Tobias Bernstrup, Stockholm
Tobias Bernstrup (f.1970) är flitigt utställd på den internationella konstscenen. Han inspireras av film noir, gotik, syntmusik, videospel, klassicism och science fiction. I sina performanceverk har han skapat en androgyn scenpersona, som iklädd latex och hård make-up framträder till tonerna av Italodisco. Bernstrups konst väcker frågor om identitet, genus och vår verklighet i relation till den virtuella verkligheten. Återkommande teman är våld, dystopier, kroppens och identitetens föränderlighet och de av samhället konstruerade könsrollerna.
5 maj – 26 augusti visas utställningen Sing My Body Electric med Tobias Bernstrup på Uppsala konstmuseum.

Tobias Bernstrup (b.1970) appears frequently on the International art scene. He is inspired by film noir, Goth, synth music, video games, classicism and science fiction. In his performance works he has created an androgynous stage persona, who clad in latex and hard makeup, performs to Italodisco tunes. Bernstrup’s art poses questions with regard to identity, gender and our reality in relation to virtual reality. Recurring themes are violence, dystopias and the transitory nature of identity and the body, as well as the notion of gender roles as a social construct.
The exhibition Sing My Body Electric by Tobias Bernstrup will take place at Uppsala Art Museum 5 May – 26 August.
